I am not anywhere close to the creative level of someone like Bowie, but I understand intimately, the idea of continuing to create in the face of cancer. To know that there is a very real possibility of very little time left. And a need to know that even with your last moments, you would do what you could to get as much of what was inside waiting to be made manifest….out into the world. To “say” as much as you could before you were gone.
As someone said to me recently, remember you are an artist not a banker. It is not all about making money. It is about so much more then that! I wish that we all could live off of the “more”. But I know that we can’t live without it.
To be a creative producer in any medium, is to court rejection. It is part of the landscape of creative marketing. The only way to avoid it is to never show your work to anybody. Once you put it out there…..expect rejection to be a part of the learning process inherent in a creative life lived.
“Coming Into the Frame”
Love this concept…..Remove everything but the current, essential or beloved.
Check-up appointment with my gynecological oncologist today. Cancer will NOT defeat my spirit.
“Eternal” (from the In Pencil series)
I am not a photographer making art. I am an artist working with photography.
Scanning negatives again….sometimes it is just one shot….one shot that makes all of the others worth taking!
